Mail-order Magazine (Demo)
Mail-Order Magazine by Colin Bugbee off of his EP ‘Hallé’
I know I’m not your mother,
I care about more than your health.
And I know I’m not your brother,
But I’m really mad at Dad for what you’ve done.
I spilled a mystery drink on the boots you bought me from that mail-order magazine
You found me drunk on the steps
Trying to light my cigarettes in the Tennessee Valley breeze.
If you want me, then wake me tomorrow.
Well I know I’m not your friend
Cause I don’t give a shit how you’ve been.
I’m just some washed-up government,
Trying my best to keep tabs on what you’re doing.
There’s a mystery drink on the boots you bought me from that mail-order magazine
You found me drunk on the steps,
Trying to light my cigarettes in the Tennessee Valley breeze.
If you want me, then wake me tomorrow
I’ll get to know you then.
We’ll finish off all the bottles until the sun quits peeking in.
And if you want me, then wake me tomorrow again.
So go, lock my pictures in the drawer.
And do the things you refused to do before.
Bastards smoke and drink because forgiveness ain’t sobering.
You said you can’t handle me with a dealer and strong drinks.
You’re a boomerang.
You’ll see.

Shadows
Bonus track by Dreamtigers off their split 7 inch with Colin Bugbee.
Pick it up via Itunes or on Vinyl
it’s been years now
oh it’s been a dozen or more
but it still turns my neck to stone
weekends chasing luck behind that old state park
power lines buzzing still
it wasn’t over, you slipped away
no matter what i say
that voice is all you hear
“it’s over”
but it wasn’t over, you slipped away
it wasn’t over until you took the easy way out
we are broken shadows
we will be left hungry
we will break and shatter
we are never complete
and all these shattered pieces
sing a broken chorus,
“one day we will be made whole”
It’s been so long it might be too far gone
don’t tell me that it’s all too far gone

FEATURED STREAM-Colin Bugbee / Dreamtigers split 7 inch on ampmagazine.com
Colin Bugbee was born and raised outside of Scottsboro, Alabama. After attending a year at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, he returned home with a craving to write more and tour. Bugbee then moved into a camper on Sand Mountain to pursue both those endeavors. He draws influence from songwriters such as Elliott Smith, Paul Simon, The Band, and many recent and past punk, folk and country artists. His Get Young Records debut “Hallé” was digitally released for free through the label this past October.
Dreamtigers, hailing from Massachusetts, draws influence from late 90s and 2000s indie rock, as well as current bands such as The National, Cursive and the Weakerthans. Dreamtigers released their 2nd EP, Fools, through Grinding Tapes Records in late 2010 and toured the East Coast and Midwest with The First Annual in support of the EP in 2011. Fools has been re-released on Get Young, and the band is currently writing their first full length.
Bugbee and Jake Woodruff from Dreamtigers (who also plays in Defeater) met at a 2010 Defeater show in a barn in Alabama. The band was so impressed by Bugbee that they brought him along to open the rest of the tour, and this split is the first fruition of the musical bonds and friendship which began during those weeks.
The Colin Bugbee/Dreamtigers split 7 inch was released via Get Young Records this past March on vinyl and digital format. This two song 7 inch compiles both Colin Bugbee and Dreamtigers’ most recent effort and includes a bonus track from Dreamtigers and Colin Bugbee’s “Hallé” EP as a digital download extra. Colin Bugbee performing a new song called “Bad News” at the Defeater/Touche Amore/Code Orange Kids show at The End in Nashville.
I sip my bottle of bad news I spent my lunch money on An assembly line of loose change Counts to seven in the morning, I scrape right by Holding a hangover hurt by cigarette smoke The sun pisses in my shower Begs to burn my bed-heavy eyes Like a tossed-on-stage performer I freeze in the light, try to pull the curtain Try to kill my troubles and all uncertain things Decide to break my bottle of bad news Scattered along my walking trail Drunk as a ferris wheel cart Lay soft on my coffin in the back of the room Figure what or who will betray me soon I still roll my cigarettes half As well as I can bitch and moan If redemption knew my old man She’d see the same runaway train ride a paper-thin highway And I got nervous in my moving feet Sick on a thin mattress, while the fever lifted off the street and said to me “Don’t look too safe outside of your home, Hell drips from a rain cloud When you’re out in town, clutch your ignorant fears Just hold your head down, it’s always murder to hear Each step ring with such soft dead string from the band” They play a soft dead string in the band
