Abyss

Her eyes were as dark as the deep ocean and I could see, sea, see the abyss. I felt safe in her embrace. I found truth in her kiss. It said, “You will never love someone as they deserve. You’ll always be a coward, shallow, and perverse. You try to make things better, only end up getting hurt. You’re cursed.” God knows I try to be more than this wretch, but this world that we live in is spiteful at best and it takes and it takes and it leaves nothing left.
